It’s that time of night where instead of falling asleep, I’m fantasizing about Riley Elves and Wolsele y Hornets, which if you didn’t already know, are basically the exact same car. It’s essentially a classic Mini, but with a cuter front end, slightly different rear sheet metal that extands further back to give the car some small fins and make room for a larger trunk, and a slightly more luxurious interior. I want one for several reasons, m ainly because I like the original Mini, but they’ve become crazy expensive and these Elf/Hornets are an absolute steal by comparison. I keep seeing Minis going for $20,000+, whereas I often see prices for decent Elf/Hornets hovering around ~ $8,000. And in theory, the vast majority of performance parts you can fit to a Mini will also fit on an Elf/Hornet. If nothing else, they’re frickin’ adorable, and that’s plenty reason to want a car, right?

It’s like someone stuck a monocle and a big bushy mustache on a Mini.

It's the car version of a "harrrumph"

I was aware of these little Mini variations, but had no idea they were cheaper than an original Mini.  Guy in my club has a Heinz 57 convertible Wolseley Hornet.

I’ve always wanted a Riley Elf. Downside is I believe they only came with the 998cc motor. Upside is that I had an Aussie mini with that motor and it was adequate. Of course if you can find a 1275cc it will swap in OK. No chance of finding either car  now I am in the US.
